The Gift Of Giving: A Party With A Difference

We are dedicating our Birthday to PRESENT NOW, but we aren’t the only ones who are feeling the love from the gift of giving!

Our party partner, Me & Riley, teamed up to help a little girl make a big impact on her 13th Birthday. (pre-COVID) Each of her 25 guests were gifted a Designer Dumyé doll and as a result, 25 children in need were gifted a doll too! The dolls donated went to our giving partner, PRESENT NOW, to be included in their surprise birthday boxes, gifted to children living in transitional domestic violence shelters.

The kids at the party had so much fun spending time designing their own personalized outfit for their dolls, along with thoughtful cards, lovingly hand-crafted, for the children in need.

Me & Riley founder, Emma Riedel explains, “They were aware of the positive implications of the activity at the party and really enjoyed creating the cards for the recipients.”

 

Instead of gifts, the Birthday girl asked her guests to donate money that was pooled together and given to Pardada Pardadi Educational Society, an organization based in Anoopshahr, Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh, India. This Not For Profit works towards the educational, economic and social empowerment of girls and women. With the fundraising having been a resounding success, the little girl and her friends raised enough money to sponsor six girl’s food, education and healthcare needs for an entire year!

Me & Riley founder, Emma Riedel talks about previous event collaborations and charity initiatives, from high fashion brands to planting trees with Give A Ghaf. “We have collaborated with brands like Fendi alongside Dumyé in the past, however, many children in this region are inundated with gifts and the latter is a perfect way to give back to our direct community while supporting our national tree conservation. Late last year we supported a little girl here in Dubai with a lemonade stand, to raise money for children in Ethiopia.”
