Maraya Art Center Doll Workshop

Dumyé was invited, by the Maraya Art Center, to hold a doll making workshop with the Sharjah community. We all gathered together in the beautiful 1971 Design Space to learn, laugh and create!

The children had the chance explore fabrics, exercised creative thinking, developed their design skills, learned basic sewing techniques and walked away with a doll they designed and created themselves. But, best of all for each child who participated, an child in need will be afforded the same opportunity to create a special doll of his/her own. Dolls With Purpose®

It was beautiful to see mothers and daughters, aunties and nieces, brothers and sisters all working together to create something special. They got the chance to experience the same type of workshop we hold with orphan and vulnerable children, the very same workshop that inspired our DIY DOLL KITS.

We loved hearing the thinking behind the children's designs and then seeing them come to life!

Although the kids enjoyed dressing their dolls, the wool roving was the star of the day. Each hairstyle was so unique. They were stitching, braiding, cutting, twisting and accessorizing. {Once our DIY DOLL KITS launch next month you guys will have the opportunity to do the same!}

Needless to say, there were happy faces all around!

We want to send out a big thank you to the Maraya Art Center, Dana Al Sadek and especially Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi for making this workshop happen. {hugs all around}
