Tutorial: Origami Butterfly Hair Clip

Tutorial Origami Butterfly Hair ClipAs a mother of a crafty 6 year old little girl, I'm always looking for fun projects we can do together. A little quality mommy and me time goes a long way!

We recently launched a collection of Limited Edition dolls with an origami twist which totally inspired me to make these beautiful origami butterfly hair clips with my girl.

Tutorial Origami Butterfly Hair Clip WHAT YOU NEED

  • Printed ‘Origami Hair Clip’ Mommy And Me Activity (Download Here) Includes step by step directions + 3 custom designed origami templates
  • Scissors
  • Markers
  • Hair Clip
  • Glue Gun

 HOW-TO

  1. Cut and color your origami templates (Download Here), inspired by Dumyé’s Limited Edition origami doll collection. We used markers because they bleed through the paper creating a beautiful texture but you can use colored pencils, crayons, or even paint.
  2. Follow the instructions on how to fold your origami butterflies.
  3. Glue the hair clip of your choice to the back of your butterfly. We used a 5 cm barrett clip for ours but you could also use an alligator clip, snap clip or bobby pin.
  4. Voilà, your butterfly has emerged! We can’t wait to see how you style your butterfly clips.
